Starting at USD 275.00

Get an unforgettable, adventurous and relaxing nature and culture experience at Anaula Nature Resort in Upper-Suriname. This comfortable resort lies on an island in the Ferulasi rapid in the Suriname river and has luxurious cabanas and even a spacious child friendly pool.

Visiting Anaula Nature Resort can be done in a 3-, 4- or 5-day tour. The resort is located on the Suriname river, a one hour boat ride from Atjoni, the last village on the road from Paramaribo. During the drive from Paramaribo to Atjoni, you will encounter jungle and savanna areas and several maroon villages. On the river, you are in the middle of the Amazon rainforest and enjoy the breathtaking scenery and lush green that will be all around you. We will also encounter the tempestuous Jaw Jaw rapid, which gives the trip a little extra.

During your stay at Anaula Nature Resort your guide will tell you more about the area and the Saramaccan culture of the locals, who have amazingly preserved West-African culture. There is the opportunity to fish or swim in the river or lie in a hammock by the riverside and enjoy the natural beauty and panoramic view from the island. Your guide will take you on a jungle walk and tell you about the history of the area and local uses of plants. If the water level of the river allows it, you will visit a deserted island in the Ferulassi rapid, which has a sandy beach, where you can relax, swim and enjoy a natural jacuzzi. If the weather allows it, you will go on a nightly boat ride and try to spot caimans and enjoy the wonderful starry night and the peacefulness of the rainforest. As part of the tour program we will also visit nearby villages and learn about their unique way of living, their traditions and customs. In the evening, villagers will show and teach us some traditional Saramaccan dances.
